Thonet’s 808 range has been extended with two new tables, available as of now: imm cologne 2020 will see the debut of models 1818 and 1828, adding tables in two new heights to the product family by Munich design studio Formstelle, which previously consisted of armchairs and side tables. As a result, the range is now all set for new fields of application in the hospitality sector and reception areas.
The armchairs in the 808 range feature a distinctively shaped seat and backrest shell that embraces the user, paired with comfy cushioning reminiscent of rolling waves. In late 2018, Claudia Kleine and Jörg Kürschner of Formstelle created matching side tables in a minimalist design and two sizes – and now it’s time for the next stage in the range’s development: a bistro table and a tall table. The two latest additions to the product family will make their debut at imm cologne 2020: table 1818 is a classic bistro table measuring 74 cm high, while model 1828 is a tall table with a height of 105 cm. The elegant bistro tables provide an ideal focal point for any communicative setting. The bases of all the tables, like those of the 808 and 809 armchairs, are made of brushed flat steel. “For us, the family idea was uppermost, as is customary with Thonet. That permits a wide variety of combinations and usage scenarios – especially in the contract sector,” says Claudia Kleine.
